The Bellingen Youth Hub Open Day will be packed with live music, boxing, free food and things to check out across the Hub. The day kicks off with a Dorrigo Boxing Club exhibition and intro to boxing session, followed by a Welcome to Country, a performance by Budaabang Bari and a free BBQ lunch. In the afternoon, the stage comes alive with open mic sets, local soloists and live performances.

There will also be youth vox pop sessions for the ‘What Do Ya Know’ Local Drug Action Team community education podcast across the day.

Transport is available, with buses running from Dorrigo, Thora & Urunga (see details below).

A Celebration of Youth

The Bellingen Shire Youth Hub Youth Week Open Day is a celebration of young people, place, and possibility.

It marks the recent upgrades made possible through infrastructure funding, while opening the doors to the community for a day that showcases what the Hub can hold and what local young people can become.

At its heart, this is a celebration of local youth talent – young people telling their stories in their own voices through music, performance, strength, culture, and community.

Featuring artists and young performers including Purple Disturbance, whose music channels raw honesty and small-town truth, alongside local voices like Jayess, whose work is deeply shaped by life here in Bello and known for raw, honest storytelling and emotionally charged lyrics.

Drawing on lived experience, his music explores struggle, resilience, and the drive to rise above tough circumstances. With a growing presence in the independent scene, Jayess is quickly carving out a name as a powerful and relatable new voice in Aussie rap.

With exhibition matches and drop-in workshops from Dorrigo Boxing Club, the day reflects the diversity, creativity, courage, and power of our young people across the region.

From raw music and local storytelling to discipline, skill, and determination in the ring, this event honours the many ways young people express themselves and rise.
